The numbers are now painfully clear: last year, as the country rallied to save lives during the pandemic, the toxic drug supply was killing Canadians at a record pace, with fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, leading the charge. Substance use problems know no boundaries and no limits.
\n
Today we will bring you inside the very personal journeys of a husband, a mother, and a professional as they share their substance use disorder story and life in recovery.
The Substance Use and Concurrent Disorders Program at The Royal has been on a build cycle over the last 10 years, creating many new services, new models of care, and new partnerships.
With your support, The Royal will continue to respond to this crisis by investing in research and developing more rapid response mental health programs via remote therapies. We were in the midst of a global mental health crisis before the pandemic, and now the effects of the pandemic have only exacerbated this crisis.
